LJ wins "Worst Town Slogan" vote

Lake Jackson and its weird motto, "City of Enchantment," has won the title of "Worst Town Slogan" in our exclusive poll.

LJ received 26 percent of the vote, followed by Richwood ("Gateway to Brazosport") with 17 percent; Manvel ("City on the Rise") 14 percent; Clute ("Home of the Great Texas Mosquito Festival") 12 percent; Alvin ("In Touch with the Past, Planning for the Future") 9 percent; Angleton ("Where the Heart Is") and Sweeny ("A City with Pride") tied at 7 percent; Freeport ("Gateway to the Gulf") and Pearland ("Where Town and Country Meet") 2 percent ... which leaves West Columbia and its "Where Texas Began" slogan the reverse winner with zero votes.

Forty-one people voted.

P.S. to Mouth of the Brazos -- (Sorry we didn't include Brazoria and its "Cradle of Texas" slogan, but we weren't aware of that town's moniker since it wasn't listed on Brazoria County's Web site, from which the towns and their dippy slogans were derived.)

P.S.S. -- We'll be removing the poll from the sidebar now, but you can still vote in the McCain/Obama ad poll, which will continue three days.

No prob, Banjo - until we get an entirely new slate of city officials...they wouldn't want to be part of any group that would want them to be part of it.

Kinda thing.
