Dennis Bonnen, the ironic crusader

"...Shine 'em up for ya, Boss?"
Never one to pass up a chance to hop aboard a bandwagon, State Rep. Dennis Bonnen, R-Angleton, has become an anti-smoking crusader.

Normally, we'd mark this as an opportunity to slam Bonnen, as he is one of our favorite whippin' boys, but now that we've quit smoking (see our new quit smokin' blog) we can't in good conscience do that, as our addiction-prone brain might view that as the first step back on the slippery slope of nicotine slavery.

Be that as it may, we'll let the Texas Observor's Jake Bernstein make note of the irony imbedded in Bonnen's newfound anti-smokin' crusade.

Our old pal Gardner Selby also made note of it in the Austin daily, as did The Lake Jackson Democrat.

Banjo. There's nothing more dangerous than a reformed drunk, born again Christian, reformed Demican or Republicrat, reformed smoker, or a mainstream newsman turned blogger (and combinations thereof)!
