Work on the Stephen F. Austin statue, which will be the centerpiece of the 10-acre Henry William Munson Park in Angleton, is proceeding. Stephen F. Austin is known as the father of Texas because he settled the first colony of white folks in present-day Brazoria County, which was part of Mexico in Austin's time.
