It got a little muddy in July at the construction site of the Stephen F. Austin statue, so they put down these boards to transport the pieces of the sculpture as artiste David Adickes finishes them.
When I was taking these pictures today, a coupla fellers drove by and stopped. The guy on the passenger side rolled down his window and said, nodding toward the statue, "Who's that? Tonto?"
I told him, "No, that's Stephen F. Austin, but he is wearing buckskin."
Turns out the two fellers are involved in the project. They said the next two sections of the statue will be added sometime this week, maybe Thursday, but they couldn't be sure. Oh, and they're still accepting donations. Like the older feller said, "We've got 10 acres of park to fill up."
