Real World Austin: Itinerary

MTV is taking its young people's laboratory The Real World to Austin.

This is a good choice, as Austin is the hippest, happenin'est town in Texas.

Think of the possibilities: concerts at Armadillo World Headquarters and Soap Creek Saloon, drinks at Les Amis, take-out Tex-Mex at Hector's Taco Flats, paraphernalia shopping at Oat Willie's, blues at Joe's Generic Bar, hanging with local musicians like B.W. Stevenson, Michael Murphy, Doug Sahm, etc.

For "jobs", the young people could write stories for The Rag or The Austin Sun. Or collect signatures on The Drag to stop the South Texas Nuclear Project or just round up spare change from the passersby.

ATTENTION all fathers: MTV wants to borrow your little princess. It's for a new show called "Approval," and it's posted an ad on craigslist.org to lure potential talent: "MTV pilot needs hot girls and their dads for a fun new TV show. We are casting for a new, hot, fun good-natured show that involves girls and their dads. Especially needed: hot girls ages 19-25 that are fun, fit, outgoing, and their dads (any age) that are fun, strong-minded and/or have strong personalities. This is a great way for dads and daughters to bond and share a really cool experience together." And for viewers to gawk at their "hot" daughters.
