The annals of canine crime

It wasn't just any ol' dog napping.

Reveille, the revered mascot of Texas A&M University, is worth more than $1 million, taking into account the revenue the pooch brings in through marketing sales.

The Aggies, well, they treat her like a princess on the campus by The Brazos.

And yet, 14 years ago, a University of Texas student managed to dognap Reveille and keep her for a week, before tying her to a signpost and calling the cops to come retrieve the semi-famous dog.

"All I could think about was that I had just done something no one else has done, and there are 20,000 guys that would kick my ass," (the dognapper) said. "It was like robbing Fort Knox. It was so cool."

The statute of limitations has run its course for the felony offense and the UT grad who pulled off the daring crime spills the beans to The Daily Texan.
