Special Report: Fireworks & Fun in El Jay
Fireworks fans claimed prime viewing spots beginning around 6 p.m. Monday, more than three hours before Lake Jackson launched its annual 4th of July show. While waiting, some barbecued and others enjoyed refreshing beverages. The group shown here was plopped down in front of Hobby Lobby, but spectators also gathered in the parking lot of Brazos Mall and in front of many other businesses on Oyster Creek Driver. We parked on the eastbound shoulder of FM 2004, which was pretty smart, cause we got home in five minutes in order to file this Special Report while hundreds upon hundreds of our fellow hayseeds are stuck in traffic. YES!

I was on the WESTBOUND shoulder of FM 2004 watching the fireworks in El Jay last night... right across the street from Brannen Elementary at the entrance to Northwood subdivision.

the HELL you say! you came all the way from ft. bend co. to b'port? well, hope you enjoyed the show. if you were in front of bess brannan, i was probably only about 100 or so yards in front of you. in front of that parking lot by the small fenced-in area where the park starts. i took a shitload of pictures but must admit i was disappointed at the outcome. i need an SLR camera. no, i don't NEED it, but i'd like one.
Yep. Second year in a row that me and the missus have parked our happy little aces at the entrance to Northwood and watched the light show. One of my greatest friends in the world lives 11 months of the year in Japan, but her mother lives over off Petunia (and teaches at Brannen). We cranked up some homemade ice cream about 8:00, and took the whole bucket over and chowed down on homemade vanilla during the festivities. Better than buying Bomb Pop's from the durned ice cream van that kept driving around. =)
You know, its only 45 minutes from First Colony down to 2004/288. All the Highway 6 widening has made the trip very easy and enjoyable to drive.

i haven't been down hwy 6 since they widened it. it used to be a real mess getting over there to sugarland shop via that route. pearland is the new sugarland, ya know. at least, that's what they like to think up in p-land. anyhow, glad you and any other out-of-county tourists enjoyed our fireworks.
