Dick Cheney's shotgun woopsie leads to HUGE honor for Texas Monthly
In his own way, the Vice President has been good for journalism.
He's good copy, in his own mysterious way, and if you're running a magazine, he makes for great cover copy.
So, in the American Society of Magazine Editors second annual cover contest, the judges said Texas Montly's cover showing a grimacing Cheney wielding a shotgun had the best "cover line" -- "If you don't buy this magazine, Dick Cheney will shoot you in the face."

... which was homage, or a straight-up rip-off, of the cover of the first-ever National Lampoon, which showed a guy holding a pistol to a pooch's head next to the headliine, "Buy this magazine or we'll shoot this dog."
Recycling is good, though.
