Polluter of the Week: Trinity Bay Conservation District

We have cast a line into Trinity Bay, where some of the best redfish and trout fishin is to be had in the Tri-City area in and around Baytown, in East Harris County, and the southwest bank of Chambers Count, where the county seat is Anahuac.

That was a long, long time ago, but we were still distressed to see that the Trinity Bay Conservation District has been penalized $18,400 for failing to comply with permitted effluent limitations and failing to comply with permitted biomonitoring requirements.

That is not good for the fish or the people, so that's why were naming the "conservation district" our Polluter of the Week, an honor that normally goes to the petrochemical industry.

That is all.

Banjo, much more obscene and threatening than illegal effluents into the bay is that obscene stringer of trout, some of which look undersized.

There is no reason to greedily harvest more than one or two reasonably sized trout for dinner after a good day of rejuvenation on the water.

The old days of rape and pillage of the public waters for their meat bounty are over and violators should be penalized heavily.
