Environmental group links Dennis Bonnen with Jay North's "Dennis The Menace," (which we used to watch as children)

Our Man in Austin has reached a level of political notoreity that surprised even us today when it was announced that a radio ad campaign has been launched to stir the populace to rise up in revolt against the bald gentleman from Angleton, State Rep. Dennis Bonnen.

"These ads are a small effort to shine some light on his poor environmental record and his sophomoric antics as chairman," thundered an environmentalist on the PRNewswire-USNewswire. ""He is not an advocate for clean air. Period. His votes show it. His comments show it. And his behavior shows it. And if he's not going to do the job Texans expect of our Environmental Committee chairman, then he needs to step aside and make room for someone who will ...

""Bonnen is a bully and he treats the Committee like a personal schoolyard. Texans deserve a chairman who takes the Committee's purpose seriously, and Representative Bonnen doesn't meet the mark."

We fully expect Bonnen to use the ad campaign as a major plank in his next re-election campaign -- or maybe even a heretofore unannounced campaign to move on up to the Texas Senate, which may be what the environmentalists really fear -- or not -- we haven't a CLUE. Really, no idea.

Oh, yeah, there's a website called StopDennisTheMenace.com (get it?) which will take you to a page of the environmentaldefense.org Web site, where you can hear the radio ads.

Which we haven't done yet.

(Remember how Mister Wilson would get so doggone aggravated with next-door-neighbor Dennis and all his mischief? It was just one thing after another for poor Mister Wilson.)
