SciGuy, Franscell achieve blogging glory
Eric Berger, better known perhaps as SciGuy, was recognized for writing the "best blog" in the state's big newspapers by the Associated Press Managing Editors. (Eric is pictured here to the right in a shockingly dated photo.)
Ron Franscell, who writes the "Under the News" blog for the Beaumont Enterprise newspaper, was cited for writing the best blog in the state's not-real-big papers by the Texas APME. (Ron is pictured to the left in a fairly recent photo.)
No bloggers in the the state's itty bitty papers received any awards for blogging cause of "no entries received."
Here's the full APME awards list.

Banjo,
That is so wrong ... although it's true that this is the photo that pops up in google images.
It's from 1996, when I was interning at Fermilab, a particle physics lab in Chicago. I was between semesters at Missouri.
Ron's blog, by the way, is great. It was a must-read during Rita.
Eric
What happened to the local paper? Seems they used to brag about their awards quite a bit.
Der Fax apparently was skunked. Maybe next year.
Could it be the 100 percent turnover in the last year?
Michael Smith used to work at the facts. looks like he won some stuff, so they do turn out good talent.
