A new day has dawned!
Dennis Bonnen, Our Man in Austin, has finally figured it out.
He's looked at all the angles, and here's the deal.
You just flat can't be a real man of the people (and move up the political ladder) if you're widely seen as a pimp for the petrochemical industry.
That might've flown in LBJ's day, and Lloyd Bentsen's day and George W. Bush's day, but not any more, beginning rat now, we guess, judging from what the lean & hungry Bonnen says in the Dallas paper.
