Will cartoonist break Chron Pulitzer drought?

Bashers of the Houston Chronicle may have to find another arrow in their quiver next time they take a potshot at the only daily paper in the country's fourth largest city.

The Chron, see, has never won a Pulitzer Prize, the most coveted newspaper prize in the land, and its detractors never fail to bring that point up.

But now comes word that one of the paper's newer hired hands has been named a finalist for this year's prize.

OK, so it's not for some hard-hitting public service piece of journalism, but cartoons still count, according to the rules.
