Congressman Grumpy Britches wishes all a Merry Freakin' Xmas

Our Congressman won't let a minor holiday like Christmas, which celebrates the birth of the Christ Child (Jesus H. Christ), keep him from his appointed rounds.

Today, while Buddy & Sis are playing with all the bountiful booty that Christ's b-day has bestowed upon them, US Rep. Ron Paul, R-Surfside Beach, has issued yet another missive reminding us of that thing we'd all like to forget, at least for a day.

"In Washington, the answer to every problem is always more of the same. If a war is not successful, escalate it-- or even start another one. This is our only policy in Iraq, where we don’t even know whom the enemy really is. Can one in ten Americans even distinguish between Sunni, Shia, and Kurds? Unless we rethink our senseless policy of endless occupation, regime change, and nation building in the Middle East, we must expect more of the same: More troops injured or killed, more spending, more debt, more taxes, more militarism, and especially more government," writes Congressman Grinch.

Then, he wishes us all very a Merry Christmas. (click here for the newsletter)

And Feliz Navidad to you, chief.

My wife and I sat two rows behind Congressman Paul and (I guess) his family at Cody Ford's funeral. We attended because I knew the soldier as a kid, and my wife worked with his father, who has been a friend of mine for 20-30 years.

I say that only to indicate that our attendance was of personal, rather than patriotic, motives.

I am not sure what C-man Paul's motives were, but I will state that he did not push himself forward grabbing for headlines and TV coverage, as some Representatives do at every event, tragic or terrific. Need I name them?

Think back to Katrina and Rita and recall who pandered to the audience with no real solution to offer, but much useless empathy.

Ms. Lee. Mr. Perry. There were/are many.
