Your Man in Austin

Dennis Bonnen, the "easier, cheaper" lawmaker from Angleton, is always looking to save the taxpayers money so long as it doesn't impinge on the petrochemical industry, so when approached about creating a monument to black legislators who served in Texas during Reconstruction, he kindly suggested that a resolution probably would do just fine. Bottom-line Bonnen. He could sell ice to Eskimos.

That's a terrible miscalculation on his part, especially considering that all the black legs during Reconstruction were Republicans.
