It's beginning to look a lot like ...

The neighbors on the corner, two houses down, put up their Christmas lights today. I'm not shitting you. They're the dangling kind that look like "icicles." They cover the roofline.

This is just the beginning. Before the weekend's over, there will be a manger scene, a Santa Claus kneeling in prayer, a bigger-than-lifesize waving Santa, a projection get-up that throws Christmas scenes on the side of the house, reindeer, lighted candy canes, lights snaking up all the trees, big humongous fake snowflakes, cartoon ice skaters, Snoopy wearing a Santa hat and maybe some elves, if memory serves.

Yup.

Two whole months of this. Every night.

I'm sorry, man. I kind of feel for you, you know? But on the other hand, it's a hoot. So, I'm not gonna slash my wrists, or anything, either. Hey, it could be worse. They could leave them up all year.

it draws a crowd, i'll say that much for it. maybe with gas so high, there won't be so many drive-by gawkers this year.

A house about a mile from us has their Christmas decs up, too. And they've been up since well before Halloween!

Crazy.
