Brazos runnin' high up north
The Fat Guy is unhappy about the Brazos River. Since we're down at the river's end and don't have a fancy lake with rich folks' boats docked on it, it's difficult to relate to his concerns, but we trust The Fat Guy, implicitly.
For us, the Brazos is not a recreational resource, though we're glad it feeds Lake Granbury and its North Texas boating enthusiasts. It wasn't that long ago that health authorities around here said not to eat any fish taken outta the Brazos due to dioxin contamination of the waterway by one of our good neighbor chemical companies. And you never see anyone boating on the Brazos. It's just a big ribbon of red water that occassionally carries tree trunks and corpses out to the Gulf. If you want to water ski, jet ski, fish or just lollygag on a river 'round these parts, you go to the San Bernard.
