The Box claims Houston radio's top spot

New Arbitron ratings for the Houston-Galveston audience show The Box, KBXX-FM, claiming the #1 spot.

It replaces Magic 102, which has been top dog the last 3 months but is now #2.

Both stations are owned by Radio One, the USA's seventh largest radio broadcasting company (based on 2003 net broadcast revenue) and the largest company that primarily targets African-American and urban listeners.

The Box plays a format known as "CHR-Rhythmic." I think that's music you "fast dance" to, but I could be wrong.

(Memo to Arbitron: KBME-AM hasn't played "adult standards" for nearly a freakin' year. It's now "The Sports Animal" grrrrowlll...)
