The mercurial Dennis Bonnen

Our Man in Austin, St. Rep. Dennis Bonnen, R-Angleton, gets a wedgie from Molly Ivins & The Texas Observer for siding with industry over mercury pollution.

Texas is the most mercury-polluted state in the Union, Ivins says the EPA says.

Hell, Bonnen puts mercury on his Cheerios in the morning, then gets on the horn and orders more, pronto!

At this juncture, looks like he'll get promoted from Waterboy to Assistant Head Trainer for the Texas Chemical Council, the Texas Association of Business and the Texas Oil & Gas Association -- what Ivins dubs the "toxic trifecta." Way to go, Dennis. Keep up the good work.

Molly Ivins and the Texas Observer?

Banjo, I didn't know you read comic books!

Tell me, is Molly still lifting all her good lines from Mencken?
