HST revisited

Remember all the colorful, funny, rueful stories that circulated after Hunter S. Thompson killed himself? Forget all that! writes Michael Capuzzo, an author who once admired HST but now says he was just a narcissistic, theatrical, cruel con man.

While it was appropriate that Thompson dedicate "Fear and Loathing" to Dylan's drug-tinged "Mr. Tamborine Man," I have always preferred the master's more plaintive missives such as "Nashville Skyline Rag" and "To Ramona." I guess my cockeyed optimism will forever separate me from the good doctor.
