The guy who write "Sideways," an autobiographical book that was made into an Oscar-nominated movie, says every publisher who read his book hated it. It all changed when a movie director read the manuscript and decided it was his next film. The author was at a low point when he wrote the book and figured he had nothing else to lose so he wrote about himself, warts and all.
