Dazed and Confused and SUED
Before they became famous, Matthew McConaughey (pictured above, right) and Ben Affleck were unknown actors, and Richard Linklater, the movie director, was known only for directing a little movie about people who live in Austin called Slacker.
Then the three of them collaborated on a movie called Dazed and Confused, which became a cult classic of sorts about growing up in a smallish Texas town in 1970s. It was a hit and is regularly on the cable movie channels today.
Now the lawyers are suing because three guys who were growing up in Huntsville when director Linklater was growing up in Huntsville say they are suffering all sorts of emotional distress because of what their namesakes in the movie did, ie., smoke dope and drink beer and act like "knuckleheads," according to this story in The Washington Post.
Shakespeare was right. First thing we do, kill all the lawyers.
