When in B'port, visit beautiful Lake Warder

While poring over emissions events reports tonight, we stumbled upon the existence of a heretofore unknown body of water right in our midst.

It's called "Lake Warder."

Evidently it is on Dow Chemical property, and it is where Volatile Organic Compounds are sent for detention -- after, of course, they have been sent to the "stripper" (where we think the Volatile Organic Compounds are "stripped".)

Here's what went down, according to the official report.

Thirty-one pounds of benzene and 5.47 pounds of toulene (both "estimates") were "released"

Under "cause" it says: "High VOC concentration brine sent to stripper then to Lake Warder."

Action taken? "Flow to stripper from contaminated brine line was blocked in."

Well, yeah, we sure as hell hope so!

But Lake Warder? Never heard of it. Never fished it. Never seen it in any of the fishing reports about where anglers are doin' all the good. Not on Google maps. Not in any Chamber of Commerce-touted brochure tourist stops.

Yeah, those Dow people are pretty doggone cagey. Keepin' that fishin' hole all to theirselves.

I wonder how their taxidermists handle the tentacles?
