Beautifying Lake Jackson
The City of Lake Jackson is spending thousands of dollars to beautify the place its residents call "The City of Enchantment."
New sidewalks, such as the one pictured here, are being put in along Oyster Creek Drive, where someday it is hoped that bistros, jazz clubs, sushi restaurants and the city's first Starbucks may someday thrive.
First, however, elected officials have launched a campaign to rid the City of Enchantment of the recent infestation of BATS that are terrorizing many of the town's residents on Oyster Creek Drive.

Maybe if you located the bistros, jazz clubs, etc. in Casa del Lago.
Ambiance, you know - and, the historical value of the building. Wasn't it among the first apartment buildings in LJ?
I'm not sure how old it is, JD, but I'll bet there's a lot of protein-rich guano up in the rafters. The city could probably package that batshit up and sell it for speciality fertilizer.

The bats are great for ridding the area of mosquitos and other small nuisance insects. Capitalize on it!
Bulldoze those eyesore apartments and build a huge protected bat house as a tourist attraction near the park. Incorporate the "Bat" thing as a logo or catch phrase and build bistros and clubs around it! "Welcome to Vampire Estates... be careful not to get sucked in! Get your bags of shit here!
Of course it would help if Lake Jackson would step into the 21st century and actually allow a real nightclub to come into that area and catch all the bidness heading toward Houston. (Yea, like that'll ever happen!)
You hear the residents say that the bats have been there forever and they don't bother anyone. I have to agree. It's some of the residents that are the problem, not the damn bats!
I know! Could we just move that whole damn complex to east-end Freeport?
