Does Ron Paul not like black folk?

Someone on a Daily Kos discussion thread, which I found through Kuff, makes this a relevant discussion topic, now that incumbent U.S. Rep. Ron Paul has destroyed his Republican challenger, the former daughter in-law of Frank Sinatra.

The quotes attributed to Paul, which said to be backed up by a 2001 Texas Monthly article (which I haven't read), are said to be based on past newsletters by Rep. Paul (also, which I haven't read), according to commenters in the Kos discussion thread.

I'm not a partisan. I didn't even vote the last go-round. And despite the pro-Kinky ad on the sidebar (provided here gratis), I've lost interest in his act, though it was entertaining in the beginning.

Really, I'm the ultimate dispassionate observer when it comes to politics.

Still, though not a partisan, I must admit I'm interested in this particular "side" of Paul (aka "The Grumpy Gynecologist") as I had never seen these particular quotes attributed to him before.

Here are his purported quotes:

"If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be."

"Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5 percent of blacks have sensible political opinions, i.e., support the free market, individual liberty and the end of welfare and affirmative action."

"Politically sensible blacks are outnumbered as decent people... I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city [Washington] are semi-criminal or entirely criminal."

"We don't think a child of 13 should be held responsible as a man of 23. That's true for most people, but black males age 13 who have been raised on the streets and who have joined criminal gangs are as big, strong, tough, scary and culpable as any adult and should be treated as such."

What say you, District 14 voters?

I find it very difficult to beleive Paul would even say those things, much less have them printed. No politician is that stupid.

This is political smear at it's worst. Ron Paul is one of the ONLY politicians in Washington I have any respect for, and there's no way he would say those things.

You have to understand that a lot of people - on both side of the aisle - hate Ron Paul's guts. He has a lot of enemies, and I wouldn't put it past Republicans or Democrats to say things like this.

I have heard that he'd only consider ever running for President if economist Walter E. Williams - a black man - was his running mate.

Take everything you read online with a grain of salt until you've confirmed it with trackable sources.

Correction - he'd only consider running for president AGAIN if Walter E. Williams was his running mate. He already ran once in the 1980's as a Libertarian.
