Hellooo? Anybody home? Yooo-hoooo...

Sneaky bastards that they are, emissions events sometimes will creep up on you, strike without warning, and then steal away into the night, unnoticed, only to lurk in the weeds and wait to strike again.

Over at the Chevron Chemical Complex in Sweeny, the Halon fire suppression system "malfunctioned" and discharged into a "building."

That was on Jan. 5 around 5:30 pm.

The event was not "discovered" Jan. 19 at 10 am.

What happened? I already said. It "malfunctioned." Either that or someone was cookin' up a pot of pinto beans on a hot plate and things got out of hand. That's just unethical speculation, though.

Emitted: 254 lbs. (estimated) of Bromotrifluoromethane, which I hear adds a special extra kick to a pot 'o beans.
