What if ...
...Astros owner Drayton McLane closed the roof at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday in defiance of MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, drawing a line in the sand, so to speak, with his fungo bat. What would Selig had done? Stopped the game? No. Forfeited the game to the ChiSox? No. Fined McLane a whole lot of money? Yes.
...The Astros (and their fans) hadn't made such a big deal about the roof not being closed, thereby putting themselves behind the psychological 8 ball and looking like crybabies?
...Roy Oswalt didn't have to pitch the deciding NLCS game in St. Louis (cause of Brad Lidge's gopher ball to Albert Pujols) and had been able to pitch Game 1 against the ChiSox with the fastball he showed against the Cards?
...Roger Clemens' hamstring hadn't gone kablooey on him in Game 1?
... Jeff Bagwell's right shoulder worked?
... Brad Lidge hadn't grooved that fastball to Podsednik?
... Craig Biggio hadn't muffed that popup in shallow centerfield?
... Chris Burke hadn't muffed that high fly that hit the wall in Chicago?
... Pigs had wings?
Just asking.
Let's see, how many days 'til spring training ...
