Behold, Enchanted Oak

The Lake Jackson Historical Association announced on Saturday the official new name of an oak tree that has been known for years as "The Lake Jackson City Oak." The tree's new name is "Enchanted Oak." The historical association solicited ideas from the public for the name before making a decision. I favored naming the tree "DeWayne," but that's the tyranny of the majority for ya. Even so, it'a a grand name for a grand tree, which was used as the model for the city's logo back in the 70s. The tree is located on the grounds of the Abner Jackson Plantation, which is open the first Saturday of every month. For more pictures of the plantation site, please see Banjo Pics.
