No doubt about it: A win-win for the homeless and The Super Bowl
Fantastic news for both the homeless and this year's Super Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla.
Public drinking in J'ville, heretofore illegal, is now legal again.
It's not often that the interests of the homeless and society at-large dovetail.
The Orlando Sentinel brings the good news:
Duval County Judge Charles Cofer ruled Monday that police cannot enforce Jacksonville's ordinance because it is selectively enforced and gives too much authority to the mayor to make exemptions.
The decision is the result of a challenge to the arrest of three homeless men charged with drinking beer in the city's Treaty Oak Park, located in an area where Super Bowl fans will be allowed to drink.
Life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness, we presume.
Booo-ya!
