David Carr's 'do raises concerns

Houston Texans quarterback, depicted above in his bobble head image shortly after his arrival in Houston, kept a promise earlier this NFL season by getting his haircut after the team won two consecutive games. He had been letting it grow (though getting those nasty split ends trimmed now and then) since last year, when the Texans couldn't two in-a-row.

But when he got his haircut, he didn't go back to the familiar buzz cut he sported when he showed up from Fresno State after being drafted first in the Texans' inaugural draft.

Now, whenever he's seen on TV without his helmet, he's always fiddling with his hair, pushing it back behind his ears, getting it off his forehead and otherwise primping.

Carr's longish locks unfortunately lend him a more striking resemblance to tatooed Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former husband of Pamela Anderson and all-around bad boy.

Yesterday, on Sportsradio 610's morning show, co-hosts Lance & John were chatting with Texans center Steve McKinney, and Carr's hairdo came up.

Carr's constant primping during timeouts and on the sideline came up, with Lance likening Carr's helmetless hairdo moments to slow motion sequences in the movies, when time slows down and background music, w/ violins and the like, swell in the background, kinda like when Bo Derek is running on the beach in the movie "10."

Is Carr, a devout Christian voted one of the 50 sexiest people by one of those irritating celeb magazines, going Hollywood on us? Is he turning into a girlie man? Or is this just a marketing gimmick?
