DeLay's New Look

The day after President Bush's State of the Union Address, tongues were waggin' about something entirely different from the President's sobering speech.
The wags were all talking about U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay's "new look."
It appears, everyone agreed, that DeLay has invested in the services of a plastic surgeon.
Not a tummy tuck or a rhinoplasty.
DeLay's still at his high school fightin' weight, or pretty close to it, and his schnoz is straight as an arrow.
But check those eyes out.
It looks like he's had an eye job, or what's commonly known in the cosmetic surgery field as an "eye lift."
DeLay, interviewed before Bush's speech on MSNBC, showed off his new peepers with a big grin.
No doubt about it, he's looks friendlier, younger and, yes, more COMPASSIONATE.

After DeLay said his piece to MSNBC's Chris Matthews about the Iraq problem, former Al Gore presidential campaign manager Donna Brazil snarled that the country doesn't need any advice on Iraq from an ex- pest control expert (DeLay owned a pest control business before finding his groove in politics).
Matthews immediately chastized Brazil for her wisecrack, saying DeLay apparently was a successful pest controller while she failed at her previous job of managing Al Gore's presidential bid.
Matthews, not one to mince words, told Brazil one should never make fun of the work another person performs.
"To work is to pray," Matthews advised.
Brazil stared blankly back at Matthews.
She not only did not apologize but calmly said she'll "do it again" in the future, so WATCH OUT all you pest control small bidnessmen out there in buggy hinterlands.
For a moment, Brazil's remark reminded us of long-ago squabbles on the schoolyard playground. Sort of asinine, sort of juvenile. Then we remembered all this was said in Washington D.C., so it was entirely in keeping with the tenor of the times and therefore entirely appropriate.
